Silvana Conradi takes over MIDAS Metall® with a clear vision
When a vision becomes reality, it is often thanks to those who have the courage to preserve the old and dare to try something new. This is precisely the path taken by Silvana Conradi, daughter of MIDAS Metall® founder Wolfgang Napp. Since 2024, she has been the official managing director of MIDAS Surfaces GmbH alongside Ilona and Wolfgang Napp, making her the new driving force behind the well-known MIDAS Metall® brand. Silvana Conradi not only brings with her a deep understanding of the product and its history, but also a clear vision of how MIDAS Metall® should develop in the coming years.

How a vision became a family, a brand and a market leader
In 2005, a process was developed in the heart of Germany that would revolutionise surface finishing. Wolfgang Napp, a civil engineer and experienced master carpenter with a passion for materials, invented MIDAS Metall®, a new process that not only imitated metallic surfaces but also enabled them to be created with a real metal coating with outstanding visual and tactile properties.
The process impressed not only with its durability and sustainability, but also with its almost poetic versatility: liquid metal that adapts to any shape, like a second skin. Silvana Conradi, the inventor’s daughter, still vividly remembers a moment that shaped her understanding of the material and her father’s passion: “I was in my early 20s, still at university, when I visited him in his workshop at home. Suddenly, the carpentry shop was a laboratory: metal powder and pigments were everywhere, and my father was concentrating on a binder with a huge stirring rod….
‘It felt like a dance of molecules.
That moment left a deep impression on me.’
Handing over to a new era
2024 marked a significant turning point in the company’s history: the official generational change was completed. Silvana Conradi was appointed managing director, and her husband Sandro Conradi also took on key roles in the company’s management. Together, they are following in the footsteps of Wolfgang and Ilona Napp, with a clear vision but also their own unique approach.
Silvana Conradi brings strategic thinking, empathy for customer needs and a whole new spirit of innovation to the table. Her goal is not only to maintain the company, but to actively lead it into the future: ‘We want to continue to deliver the best quality and excellent service and drive technological innovation, for example in the field of grinding technology,’ says Silvana Conradi. The generational change was not only noticeable internally; the brand also presented itself in a new form to the outside world in 2024. The MIDAS Metall® website was redesigned and the corporate design modernised in order to strategically develop communication.
A brand in transition
What began twenty years ago as a craft experiment in a workshop is now an internationally recognised brand for the highest quality in liquid metal finishing with countless creative possibilities. MIDAS Metall® is now a brand in transition, remaining true to its roots while looking to the future with open eyes. ‘I hope that our artisans, with our support, will use their creativity to make the world a more beautiful place.’ With this attitude and a keen sense of quality, design and future trends, Silvana Conradi is continuing her father’s legacy and opening a new chapter for the MIDAS Metall® product world.
